Crumpled Flower Tutorial

Materials I used: EK Success large & medium retro flower punch, pattern paper, pearl glimmer mist and glue.

Tips: If you don't have these punches you could use a flower die or scissors to cut out your own flowers. You can also use plain water instead of glimmer mist.


Step 1: Punch out 3 large flowers and 3 smaller flowers. You can use pattern paper or solid card stock depending on the look you want.


Step 2: Spray a light mist on to both sides of all the flowers. I used pearl glimmer mist but you can use any color. If you don't have any glimmer sprays you can use water.


Step 3: After you spray the flower carefully crumple them up into balls.


Step 4: Carefully unfold all the flowers except for 1 of the smaller ones. Make sure to leave the edges slightly crumpled. You can also ink the edges of the petals to give a more defined look.


Step 5: Place a small dot of your favorite glue in center of flowers. Make sure you alternate the petals when you stack them.


Step 6: Then place the small flower that is still in a ball into the center of the flowers. If you want a more distressed look take your fingers and scrunch or twist the petals.


Its that simple!! Now you can make flowers to coordinate with any project. They're very similar to some Prima flowers that I bought but much cheaper to make. I learned this from Gabrielle Pollacco and I thought I'd share it with you, thanks Gabrielle.

HUGE Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland Tag

I watched Alice in Wonderland all the time as a kid. It was the 1985 TV Movie with Natalie Gregory, Sammy Davis Jr., Carol Channing and many others. The animated version is ok but this one was by far my favorite. Till this day everytime I make PB&J sandwich I think about the song "Jam tomorrow jam yesterday but never ever jam today" lol. If you've never seen this version you should try to find it, a must see. I just love this collection. I wanted to make something with this collection but I didn't have time to start another mini. This HUGE tag was a very quick and easy idea. This is the first HUGE tag that I've made. I've been wanting to create one for a while. I loved it and I know this won't be the last. I saw Arlene's tag and it inspired me create my own, thanks Arlene. It was so simple to make and I'd have to say it is one of my favorite projects that I've created.

Halloween Paper Bag Mini

I used the Eerie Collection from Basic Grey. This collection is from last year. I kept this album really simple. I challenge myself to use mostly paper and the elements from the collection. I usually use my Big Shot & dies for every page lol, just love that machine. I only used one die and that was on the cover. So it is possible to use the paper collection and other papers and not use fancy die cut machines. I left a lot of room for picture and journaling. I would not suggest binding/assembling your paper bag albums like this. I was at a crop when I started this album. I don't know about you but I'm not always really focused when I'm at a crop. I get to chattin' and either don't get anything done or come home with the what was I thinking project. I wasn't thinking straight when I put the paper onto the bags lol. Oh well I made do b/c I can't bare to waste the paper and start over.

WOW Seven Years!

Yesterday my husband John and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. We have been together for eleven years but the last seven have just flown by. It might have something to do with the three children that we've had in that time. I remember our wedding like it was yesterday, crazy how time flies. I made him a little something and thought I'd share it with you. It was my first time painting on a canvas. Thank you Arlene for inspiring me. I had a great time and can't wait to try it again.



I used inexpensive acrylic paint brushed and smeared it on to the canvas.


Then I painted some bubble wrap and stamped it around randomly.


I used vintage photo distress ink and a blending tool to give my photos an aged or sepia type of look.


I also took an old music sheet and patterned paper and tore the edges and adhered them to the canvas with mod podge.


I used a couple of different background stamps and mod podged some tool down and heat set it to give some dimension and texture.



After playing around with the different embellies I finally came up with this collage layout.

Graphic 45 Altered Book

I used the Steampunk Deputante Collection from Graphic 45. The colors in this collection are beautiful, I just love it!! The book is from SU. I also used some Prima bling, Tim Holtz gears, tokens, swivel clasp, and time peices. The pocket watch is from Tattered Angels. I covered it with platium utee then I distressed it with a texture hammer. Then added vintage photo and black soot distress ink to give it more of an aged look.

This is going to be a place where I sketch layouts, write down my thoughts and other artistic creations.

Boo Banner

I used the xl pendent die from SU for this banner. I pulled papers from a few different collections. The small scallop circle comes in the pendent die and the large one is a huge punch that I have. I also used the scallop edge punch from SU for the green strip at the top. I made the dangley pieces at the bottom from bead/charms that I took apart and added the little skull beads to. I bought them both at Michaels. The letters are flocked and I picked them up at Big Lots last year.

Tip: Always take a look at the remnant bin at Joanns or your local fabric store. This is where I found the web like metallic fabric that I placed under the scallop circle. You never know what goodies you'll find!

You & Me 12x12 Layout

I used the Love Letters paper from SU. I just love this paper and I cut it out to give it more dimension. I also used a vintage music sheet, Tattered Angels journaling card, Tim Holtz book plate and metal florals, Prima flowers that I sprayed w/ glimmer mist and a couple of beautiful trim/lace pieces. This is the first wedding layout that I've done of my husband and I. It only took 7 years but better late than never lol.
