Brrr......Winter Banner

The house always seems so empty after I take down my Christmas decorations, so I decided to make a winter banner. I've been wanting to make a banner out of this mini album from Michaels for a long time. I started this winter banner at a crop last weekend and finally finished it.

The pattern paper is from My Minds Eye Holiday Glitter Book, chipboard embellies are from Little Yellow Bicycle and large button is from Stampin' Up.

I also used early espresso and marina mist card stock from SU. The chipboard snowflake is from the LYB collection. I picked up the clear flower from my local scrapbook store, sorry I can't remember what they're called, and I added a rhinestone brad from stash.

I think it turned out pretty cute. I just love having something crafty hanging around, it puts a smile on my face!

My Garden Girl- DT Layout

Hey Ladies, just thought I'd share this l/o I did last month for my local scrapbook store.
I was able to use some really beautiful paper from the Floral Lane Collection from Pebbles. This paper has a great texture to it and is nice and thick. I really like pattern paper that has some weight to it, it makes me feel like I getting more for my money hahaha. This line says spring and summer to me. I knew I had a couple of good pictures of my little garden girl that would really make these paper come to life.

I tucked in a couple of tickets from sei and went through my stash of ribbons to add a little more dimension and texture.

The chipboard alphas are from Girl's Paperie and they are one of my all time faves.

For the flower I punched out 3 circle then distressed and cut around the edges. Then I painted them with a white paint dabber and crumbled them up. For the center I cut up some Prima Bloomers and glued it all together. I just love the colors in these papers and I think turned out pretty cute!!

My Very Own Smash Book II

The first one I did went through my middle school years. This book goes through my high school years. The covers are 8.5x10 and in inner pages are 8x10.

This book is packed full. I kept a ton of stuff from those 4 years. I used a K&Co. rubber band from the Smash Book line to keep it closed.

I'm in love with this camera stamp that I picked up at Michaels in the dollar bin.

A Smashing Gift

Here is a look at another smash book I made. I gave my niece Alexis this one for Christmas, she's a freshman in high school. I wish I had one when I was in high school. Hopefully she has fun with it. I didn't have any color scheme in mind just that she likes zebra print.

I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I know it's a little late but better late than never. I've been playing catch up ever since we came back from GA for Thanksgiving. I've been painting, sanding, scraping, scrapping, stamping, smashing and sewing a lot, say that 5 times fast lol!

Here are a few of the projects...

....I made 18 or so of these bags for a friend. This bag is made out of SU Spice Cake fabric. I also made some from the Flirtatious and Candy Cane Christmas fabrics. I think these are so cute!! I plan to make a couple more for my girls, they kept asking if they could have one. I will say they were time consuming to make, lots of stop and start and trimming of thread. I found a great youtube video that walked you through it, very beginner friendly. Note: I didn't need to pin all the pieces together if you glue the felt in place you can hold the rest just fine.

Girls Christmas Presents...

...I picked up this desk a goodwill for $8.00. I LOVE deals like this!!!!
I also picked up another desk this time from craigslist for $15 (pic below).

I started by sanding them and getting off any rust, then I gave them a good cleaning and let them dry. I used a rust resistant spray paint primer. After a couple of coats of that I sprayed them with a nice white top coat paint.

I used some left over pink and green paint for the seats and stenciled their names on.

They were a big hit on Christmas morning!!

I also made my son a Christmas present. He is really into Harry Potter and we just started reading the books together. I'm hopeful that they will spark a love for reading.

So I decided to make a Harry Potter robe for him complete with wand and glasses. Here are the directions that I used.

He was completely surprised and loves it. I wasn't sure how it was going to fit him so I just pinned the patch on. It fits just fine so all I have to do is sew it on permanently.Christmas morning is always so much fun but this year it was a little extra special because I made some of their gifts.

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody! This Thanksgiving is extra special because we're spending it in the Blueridge Mountains of GA with my family. I haven't seen my brother and sister for two years. It will be nice to see my kids play around and goof off with their aunt an uncle. My sister and I are a little obsessed with the Twilight books and movies so friday night at 7pm we have a date with Edward Cullen. Team Edward all the way baby hahaha!!!

Making Halloween Tombstones

We made your own Halloween tombstones for a fraction of the costof store bought ones. I found a video that explained exactly how to do it, gotta love youtube lol! We kept ours pretty simply and kid friendly but you could make them as detailed as you'd like. (Note: I found that the spray adhesive I had didn't work so I just used my glue gun instead.)

I will warn you it does make quite a mess. It looked like snow came early this year.

I haven't decided want material I want in my planting bed so it's just sort of in limbo right now. I have to say it does make a good graveyard though hahaha!!

Kids Art Gallery

I wanted a place to display some of the larger art drawings and paintings from my kids. We have a bulletin board upstairs for the small art projects and papers from school but we needed more space. I loved this idea of taking your saved wine corks and using them for bulletin strips instead of boards. I just bought a 12' strip of wood and some masonry screws from Home Depot. I had them cut the strips into three 4' sections, which saved me time.

I predrilled some holes, put in the anchors and screwed up the strips. Then got my glue gun and started putting up the corks. It worked better than I thought it would.

I picked up the wooden sign from a yard sale and of course I forgot to take a before picture, oops. It was orginally black and said Baa Baa Black sheep with a wooden sheep and moon. I just simply pulled off the sheep and moon, painted and sanded it. I had a UL expression which fit perfectly, I guess it was meant to be, and just simply rubbed it on.

I pulled some drifted wood from my collection and added the word ART.

It was all pretty painless and I like how it turned out. The kids were so excited to see their art hanging up.

I received my new product from the Scrapbook Nook. I was so excited to work with the new line from Little Yellow Bicycle called Hello Fall. I made a 1-page and a 2-page layout and a really simple card. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. I really enjoyed working with this line the colors are so vibrant!

Getting Ready for Halloween

I wanted to do more for Halloween this year without spending to much. So here are a few ideas I came up with. I searched the internet for some spooky bottle labels and other images that I could print off for free. Then I searched my house and started looking at things in a different way. I found some old books, a tarnished silver sugar cup, a box of emergency candles and some old bottles. I did buy a few things to pull the look together spider webs and spiders, a bag of bones, a rubber snake, a skull, and some of that aged cheese cloth stuff. It seems like alot but these items are very inexpensive. I found all of these items in the Halloween section.

This frame usually sits on my mantel with a family photo in it. I just simply removed the photo and printed these items from the net and combined them with some patterned paper I already had.

My husband had these old books lying around so I didn't dust them off and added some webs to them. The candles are emergency candles they come in a box of ten for a couple dollars. I just wrapped some twine around them.

This is another label from the net that I aged with old paper and vintage photo distress ink.
The lid is a used coffee filter that I hot glued on the top and added a little distress ink. I saw this idea from a site called a fancyful twist.

My husband was in the woods the other day and found this tall brown bottle and brought it home for me. It had some old leaves in it that I couldn't get out so I just went with it. I used one the my inventory tags that I sell here on my blog. I decided that the leaves were dried troll skin and aged the tag with distress ink.

This is a shadow box that I've had lying around for ever and thought it would be perfect for this. I used pattern paper, images from the net, some of the bones I bought and few other things I gathered from my scraproom.

Used a printed label distressed it and used color wash ink to make the blood spots and drips.

This Boo banner is the one I made last year. I'm not sure it really fits well with the mantel but I up for now.

I found this label and thought the green rubber snake would work perfectly. I just added water and a few drops of alcohol ink to make it look green and murky.

I found these sticky eyeballs in the Halloween section and added this label, water and red ink.

Old Bottles

These are some bottles I kept from our old house. I thought I could do something crafty with them for Halloween.

I used stamps, punches, patterned paper, ribbon, wire, a brad, a feather, an old key, glimmer mist and color wash sprays.
I used an old Stampin' Up rub-on on this one, added some wire and a brad.

Some of them have a pirate flare to them but I really like the way they turned out.

Altered Paper Towel Holder

I picked this up at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. I think it was for paper towels but as soon as I saw it I thought ribbon storage. I changed out the dowel for a smaller one painted and distressed it then added some of my favorite paper. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Altered Clothes Pins

My sister was in charge of some of the games at her friend's bridal shower and she mentioned that she needed some decorative clothespins. Well, that was all she needed to say I volunteered to make these for her. The colors of the shower were Lilly Pulitzer pink and green so I went through my stash and found this Basic Grey line that I though matched pretty well. I think they turned out cute and my sister really liked them the shower is today so we'll see what the bride thought. I glued strips of paper to the clothespins and then sanded the edges of the paper. The sanding took a while but really makes such a difference.

My very own Smash Book

When I first heard of smash books I thought it would be a great way to display some of my own ephemera that I've been hoarding for years. I have a large tote full of pictures, movie stubs, advent tickets, cards, postcards letters and the list goes on. I created this smash book and filled it with all sorts of things. This book starts with my parents marriage and runs through my middle school years. I've already started on the another one that will be my high school years.

I love this idea. Now I can actually flip through and see all of my little treasures instead of them sitting in the corner of basement never to be seen.

A Smashing Gift

A friend of mine's little girl or not so little was turning 13. I thought if anyone could appreciate a smash book/art/junk journal it would be her. Her favorite colors are purple and green so I tired to use lots of those colors through out. These are so much fun to make. I hope she treasures it for years to come.

Good Times!!

I know it's been a while since I posted something but we've been busy. I've been doing some crafty things and hope to share them with you this week.

My husband's Mother and Stepdad came for a visit a few weeks ago. They were able to see one of Loch's baseball games. So bummed we didn't take more pics while they were here, you'd think I'd know better.

These four little kittens were abandoned by their mother and found their way into our garage. Would you believe that we didn't end up with one of them, I know it's a miracle. I just wasn't ready to take care of another animal I already have 3 lol. But they were sooo cute.

We also enjoyed some time around our backyard fire pit and our older two had a backyard camp out with their Dad. Such good times!!!

I finally took the kids for a picnic at the park. They've been asking for a while now. It was a great afternoon.

We also had a visit from the Patterson clan. We took them to the Silver Lake sand dunes and blueberry pickin' at Andrew's blueberry farm. It was so nice to see them!!

Smash Your Stash!!

This is my version of a smash book. It was so much fun!!!! This one is a gift and I can't wait to make one for myself.

It's one of the best ways to use what you have in your stash. I used tons of my scraps. I also used 15 different stamp sets.

I used tons of different paper, tickets and tags. Some of the tags I sell right here on my blog.

This is my kind of journaling messy and beautiful.

So glue it, tape it, paint it, sew it just stick it in there. There is no right or wrong!!

Scrapbook Nook DT Mini Album!!! Bo Bunny Zoology Line

This collection has so many embellishments it's hard to choose. You could solve that problem pretty easily just buy them all lol! I only used a couple of sizzix dies, a Tim Holtz swivel clasp and fragment charm, some pieces of burlap, trim and stitching the rest was all from the collection.

I just love the way the burlap and the zigzag stitching looks on this page!!

Scrapbook Nook DT Layout!!! At The Zoo

This is the new Zoology collection from Bo Bunny and I love it! I wanted to design a multi-photo layout b/c I had quite a few zoo pictures. I was able to fit five 4x6 and two 4x4 pictures in this 2-pager. I thought the burlap fabric was a perfect fit for this collection. I just cut little pieces here and there and I love the texture that it gives.

I used the two largest flowers from the Tim Holtz tattered floral die. Then I punched out two different size circles and then just cut all around the sides. The leaves are from Kaiser Crafts and I sprayed them with some glimmer mist to make them green. Super easy and fun to make!!

Just thought I'd share another layout with you. I know its still the middle of Summer but I don't scrap in order or with the seasons so I'm sharing them as I make them.

I used a mixed mash of products on this one including Basic Grey, K&Co., MME and Pink Paislee paper. The chipboard letters are from K&Co. (two different sets). I also used a paper bag and scallop border punch and some buttons and leaf stamps from Stampin' Up.

I used my sewing machine and stitched along the edges of the papers. I really love sewing on my projects.

Scrapbook Nook DT Layout!!!

I love the colors and patterns in the new MyKonos paper collection from 7 Gypsies. I also used the Numero tickets by 7 Gypsies. Jillibean Soup came out with these blossom twine flowers. I used the natural bean color. I thought they really went well with the circular sunbursts in this paper collection. This layout was a little bit of a departure from my norm. I usually don't combine so many patterns together but it was a lot of fun and I think it works. Stitching has been my favorite thing to do lately so its no surprise that this l/o is full of it. If you haven't tried stitching on your projects you should. If you know how to thread a machine you can do it. If you are just starting out ask someone you know to teach you the basics. It's very fun I promise and it adds so much!!!

Sweet Summer 12x12 Layout

This is a really simple, quick and inexpensive layout.

I used October Afternoon paper, some stickers from the collection, some punches and recycled a piece of a cardboard box. I always have my sewing machine out and ready so it really doesn't take to long, just a matter of changing the thread.

The yellow ruffled paper trim was so easy to make.

This is a great way to add a ribbon/trim look to your pages without having to buy those pricey trims. We all have tons of paper and a punch or two lying around.

Ruffled Paper Trim
1. Cut a 1.5"x 12" strip of paper
2. Punched one edge with a decorative punch (any style you want).
3. Then just fold the paper to make the ruffles.
4. Finally I stiched along the top of the paper with a contrasting thread.

My Valentine

My husband and I don't do alot for Valentine's day but I did make him this layout. I actually started this at a crop last month but wanted to wait till after Valentine's Day to post it. I saw this layout design in Scrapbook Etc. and really loved it. This is one of my very favorite picture of him....

...and I made 25 of these for my son's class. It was really easy I used a sizzix die from Stampin' Up and an old stamp set. I used less expensive card stock and made it really simple b/c the kids were just going to tear into them anyway lol!

Take Notice

"Honey come over here for a second take a look at this" my husband John said. This is what he wanted to show me. So we all just stopped what we were doing and a took a second to marvel at an amazing sunset. My pictures don't do it justice, the kids thought it was beautiful especially Claire with all the pinks. My all time favorite movie is The Color Purple and at that moment I thought of this line " I think it pisses God off when you walk by the color purple in a field and don't notice it" hahaha gotta love Shug Avery! So we shouldn't forget to slow down, take a minute, and NOTICE!!!

Thirty something, really? It's not that I think that's old, the number doesn't really bother me. It's how fast it's going by. It seems like yesterday I was in high school. It just blows my mind that our first born will be seven in a couple of months. Sometimes as a SAHM the days seem so long but they're really going by sooo fast. Our baby will be two on March 11th and our little Claire bear will be four on the 28th. It just makes me think about what's important. I often struggle with balancing everything, spending time with the kids and John, cleaning, laundry, crafting and the list goes on. But you know something, I don't remember if there were any dust bunnies in the corners or under the bed when I was growing up. I do remember my Mom reading me bed time stories and spending time with me. I'm not saying that I'm going to let my house go to pot, but it's not my first priority. So go cuddle, snuggle, tickle, kiss and show those little ones how much they mean to you...that's what they'll remember!!

Super Simple -30 mintue Layout

I was surfing Scrapbook etc.com the other day and came across a cute little layout that used different patterned paper and stitched them together. It was too cute so I gave it a try. It was really simple and only took my about 30 minutes to complete. I also challenged myself to only use current Stampin' Up products. I love all products but I was going to SU meeting and wanted to bring a sample to share. I really like the new fabrics they have come out with.

Not Just a Girl - Layout

I started and finished this layout at a crop a couple of weeks ago. It's a huge accomplishment for me to actually finish something at a crop. It always takes me so long to get goin' let alone finish. I think its a combination of talking, eating and socializing to much. That's what makes a crop so fun, being surrounded by people who share our passion for paper crafting. I love walking around to see all the different projects, styles and storage solutions. This was a huge crop with about 165 ladies and 10 different vendors. It was my third year and I look forward to going again next year. A BIG Thanks to the FFA of Montague for puttin' on a great event.

I wanted to create a layout using buttons in a different way, thinking outside the box. I really like the way it turned out, the blues, whites & creams really work well with each other. I used Stampin' Up buttons, cardstock and designer paper, Prima chipboard alphas, a Jenni Bowlin calendar and other buttons and pearls from my stash.

I finished this 2 page Christmas layout for Marion's 31 Challenge.

I scraplifted the design for this layout from an issue of Scrapbook Etc. I'm so way behind in my scrapbooking, just to give you an idea this is Christmas 2007. Yup, that's right 07'. I don't really think about how far behind I am, that's stress I don't need, I just get 'em done when I can. I probably wouldn't know what to do with myself if I ever got caught up. So don't feel bad if you're way behind you're not the only one.

Christmas Mini Album

My day 5 project for Marion's 31 Day Challenge was to finally finish my Christmas mini album. I really like how it turned out. I used lots of great products from Basic Grey (Figgy Pudding), Stampin' Up, Prima, Tim Holtz, K&Co., and Sizzix. The mini album shape is from Michael's, I picked that up Christmas time 09'. "New Technique" - Embossing Felt

I saw this idea in a recent magazine and had to try it and share it with you. I'm participating in Marion Smith's 31 Day Challenge on youtube. This was my day 3 project.

Supplies: Felt, Mod Podge or other decoupage medium, paint brush, embossing folder and machine.

Step 1: Paint one side of felt piece with mod podge.

Step 2: Let dry completely.

Step 3: Put felt piece in embossing folder and run through your machine.

Voila embossed felt, its that easy!!

I received some new paper stacks for Christmas and I'm excited to make up some new kits. I also went through my other paper stacks and have quite a big pile of beautiful paper that is just waiting for me to put kits together. For those of you who don't know I put together mini album kits and sell them here on my blog (under the kits for sale tab at the top of my blog). My whole reason for making kits, besides the fact that it's fun and I love it, is to recycle. I love pattern paper and they often come in stacks that have 2 or 3 sheets of each pattern. I know myself well enough that I won't use all of it. So I've found that creating these kits is a fun way to make sure that the paper gets to someone who will use it. My kits range in price depending on how big they are but are very affordable.

Happy New Year - I'm Back

I know its been almost a month since my last post. I haven't been doing a lot of crafting. I made about 38 Christmas cards and some gift card holders and that was about it. It has been really nice spending time with friends and family and enjoying the holidays. Though I have to say I've been itchin' to get craftin' again. I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season. Here are a couple of pics of my Christmas cards. I tried to use up pattern paper I already had so I ended up having 10 or so different cards.

Good Old Fashion Family Christmas

My husband and I have made an annual trip to Fischer's Tree Farm to cut down the perfect tree since before we were married. Eleven years later it has become a great family tradition. The kids really look forward to it. In the beginning John and I would spend hours searching for the perfect tree. You know "the one" that starts to glow and says AWWWWWWWW!!! I'm happy to report that no ones eyes were frozen and we didn't forget the saw hahaha, with three kids in tote we're pretty quick about it these days. I've learned that it doesn't have to be perfect. Once you put the lights and ornaments on they always look great. Part of our tradition is taking a family photo in front of the tree, which often becomes the picture on our Christmas card. I have to say this is one of my favorite traditions that we've started. Thanks so much for stoppin' by!!!! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!!!!!

Pumpkin Cupcakes Yum! Yum!

I made these cupcakes for Loch's Halloween Party at school.

Pumpkin Cupcake Recipe:
Bake 350 for 20-25 min.
Makes approx. 30 cupcakes

4 eggs
1 2/3 cup sugar
1 cup oil
1 16oz. can pumpkin
2 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda

-Mix all ingredients together. Scoop into cupcake tin and bake at 350 for about 20-25 min. If you want a cake instead pour mixture into 15x10 pan and bake, same temp. and time.

Cream cheese frosting:

3 oz. cream cheese
1/2 cup marg. or butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cup powdered sugar

-Soften butter and cream cheese, just slightly. Mix together and slowly add in sugar and then add vanilla.

Bat Toothpicks-Cupcake Topper

So super easy to make and adds so much. These bats are the perfect size for the toothpicks.

Materials used:
-Bat punch from Stampin' Up
-Black card stock
-Toothpicks (I sniped off the points)
-Sticky strip
-White gel pen

Crumpled Flower Tutorial

Materials I used: EK Success large & medium retro flower punch, pattern paper, pearl glimmer mist and glue.

Tips: If you don't have these punches you could use a flower die or scissors to cut out your own flowers. You can also use plain water instead of glimmer mist.

Step 1: Punch out 3 large flowers and 3 smaller flowers. You can use pattern paper or solid card stock depending on the look you want.

Step 2: Spray a light mist on to both sides of all the flowers. I used pearl glimmer mist but you can use any color. If you don't have any glimmer sprays you can use water.

Step 3: After you spray the flower carefully crumple them up into balls.

Step 4: Carefully unfold all the flowers except for 1 of the smaller ones. Make sure to leave the edges slightly crumpled. You can also ink the edges of the petals to give a more defined look.

Step 5: Place a small dot of your favorite glue in center of flowers. Make sure you alternate the petals when you stack them.

Step 6: Then place the small flower that is still in a ball into the center of the flowers. If you want a more distressed look take your fingers and scrunch or twist the petals.

Its that simple!! Now you can make flowers to coordinate with any project. They're very similar to some Prima flowers that I bought but much cheaper to make. I learned this from Gabrielle Pollacco and I thought I'd share it with you, thanks Gabrielle.

HUGE Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland Tag

I watched Alice in Wonderland all the time as a kid. It was the 1985 TV Movie with Natalie Gregory, Sammy Davis Jr., Carol Channing and many others. The animated version is ok but this one was by far my favorite. Till this day everytime I make PB&J sandwich I think about the song "Jam tomorrow jam yesterday but never ever jam today" lol. If you've never seen this version you should try to find it, a must see. I just love this collection. I wanted to make something with this collection but I didn't have time to start another mini. This HUGE tag was a very quick and easy idea. This is the first HUGE tag that I've made. I've been wanting to create one for a while. I loved it and I know this won't be the last. I saw Arlene's tag and it inspired me create my own, thanks Arlene. It was so simple to make and I'd have to say it is one of my favorite projects that I've created.

Halloween Paper Bag Mini

I used the Eerie Collection from Basic Grey. This collection is from last year. I kept this album really simple. I challenge myself to use mostly paper and the elements from the collection. I usually use my Big Shot & dies for every page lol, just love that machine. I only used one die and that was on the cover. So it is possible to use the paper collection and other papers and not use fancy die cut machines. I left a lot of room for picture and journaling. I would not suggest binding/assembling your paper bag albums like this. I was at a crop when I started this album. I don't know about you but I'm not always really focused when I'm at a crop. I get to chattin' and either don't get anything done or come home with the what was I thinking project. I wasn't thinking straight when I put the paper onto the bags lol. Oh well I made do b/c I can't bare to waste the paper and start over.

WOW Seven Years!

Yesterday my husband John and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. We have been together for eleven years but the last seven have just flown by. It might have something to do with the three children that we've had in that time. I remember our wedding like it was yesterday, crazy how time flies. I made him a little something and thought I'd share it with you. It was my first time painting on a canvas. Thank you Arlene for inspiring me. I had a great time and can't wait to try it again.

I used inexpensive acrylic paint brushed and smeared it on to the canvas.

Then I painted some bubble wrap and stamped it around randomly.

I used vintage photo distress ink and a blending tool to give my photos an aged or sepia type of look.

I also took an old music sheet and patterned paper and tore the edges and adhered them to the canvas with mod podge.

I used a couple of different background stamps and mod podged some tool down and heat set it to give some dimension and texture.

After playing around with the different embellies I finally came up with this collage layout.

Graphic 45 Altered Book

I used the Steampunk Deputante Collection from Graphic 45. The colors in this collection are beautiful, I just love it!! The book is from SU. I also used some Prima bling, Tim Holtz gears, tokens, swivel clasp, and time peices. The pocket watch is from Tattered Angels. I covered it with platium utee then I distressed it with a texture hammer. Then added vintage photo and black soot distress ink to give it more of an aged look.

This is going to be a place where I sketch layouts, write down my thoughts and other artistic creations.

Boo Banner

I used the xl pendent die from SU for this banner. I pulled papers from a few different collections. The small scallop circle comes in the pendent die and the large one is a huge punch that I have. I also used the scallop edge punch from SU for the green strip at the top. I made the dangley pieces at the bottom from bead/charms that I took apart and added the little skull beads to. I bought them both at Michaels. The letters are flocked and I picked them up at Big Lots last year.

Tip: Always take a look at the remnant bin at Joanns or your local fabric store. This is where I found the web like metallic fabric that I placed under the scallop circle. You never know what goodies you'll find!

I used the Love Letters paper from SU. I just love this paper and I cut it out to give it more dimension. I also used a vintage music sheet, Tattered Angels journaling card, Tim Holtz book plate and metal florals, Prima flowers that I sprayed w/ glimmer mist and a couple of beautiful trim/lace pieces. This is the first wedding layout that I've done of my husband and I. It only took 7 years but better late than never lol.

Family Time-What have I been up to?

We released our butterfly "Flutter" and John took Loch and Claire fishing on the dock...

we took the kids to Michigan's Adventure for the 1st time & Loch went on his 1st upside down rollercoaster...

my Mom came up for a visit and we had a great day at the zoo....

and we started a new tradition in our family "pizza night" the kids had a blast making their own pizzas. This was Claire's idea, she was soooo proud that it was ALL her idea lol!

I can't believe that Summer is almost over and school starts next week. It has been a great Summer HOT but very fun. I'm so glad that my Mom was able to come up, of course it went by way toooo fast. We all miss and love you lots and thanks for all the help while you were here!

Prima Paintables

This was my first try at Prima Paintables. I really enjoyed it. I used an inexpensive set of water color paints from JoAnn's and some of my glimmer mist. It was really relaxing. I put the kids to bed, went down stairs, put in one of my favorite movies (Pride and Prejudice) and painted. Soooo Fun. I purchased the paintables at flamingo Scraps they were part of the Marion Smith's paintables kit.

They're pretty loose with the rules you're allowed to alter any of the products to fit your needs just as long as you used them. This is what was left after I made my layout.

I know it's been a while since I posted anything and there is a very good reason for that. I've been consumed by the Twilight Saga. I had never seen any of the movies b/c I think a small part of me thought I would read the books. Well my sister finally convinced me to read Twilight. I've been obsessed ever since. Two weeks later I've read all four books plus Midnight Sun and I'm still thirsty for more.

Stephanie Meyer should have put warning labels on the cover of her books!

Warning: If you have anything planned in the next couple of weeks cancel it immediately!

Side Effects will include:
-dirty laundry piling up
-dust bunnies multiplying
-unable to think clearly
-dirty dishes in the sink
-constant urge to read just one more page
-dinner will be late to the table once or twice
-feeling of heart ache (from New Moon)
-laughing out loud
-weight loss

Needless to say I LOVED these books. A must read!!!!!!

March Kit Challenge from my local scrapbook store

The kit includes 1 12x12 piece of light blue cardstock, 1 1x12 strip of button patterned paper, 1 4x12 piece of alpha paper, about 20 dew drops, 1 set of foam Thickers and 1 bottle of Smooch ink. The kits are $5 and the whole purpose is to introduce people to new products. It was a great deal b/c the thickers and smooch are around $5 ea. This was the first time I had used the smooch ink. If you have ever used the smooch spritz you know how intense the color is and the same is true for the ink. I will be submitting the layout below in the challenge, if it wins I will get a $10 dollar gift certificate to the store.
